Class is the place where we learn to live together as human beings.
Discipline applies not only in training but also to life in general.
Courtesy is the first step to practicing the Martial Arts.
Without courtesy you cannot practice the Martial Arts.
Students must bow when entering or leaving the training area.
Students must bow when approaching or withdrawing from an upper belt.
Students must bow at the beginning and end of class.
Students must bow after the Sensei, instructor, or classmate has answered
your question.
Students must bow when the Sensei, instructor, or classmate has provided
you assistance with a technique.
Students must be courteous and helpful to each other.
When in doubt, Bow.
Do not make any negative comments to anyone in class.
A positive comment is acceptable.
Do not judge any suggestion or the teachings from any instructor in class,
this will be considered extremely rude.
A student must never interrupt the instructor.
Whenever an instructor is speaking or demonstrating a technique, all students must immediately give their full and undivided attention to the instructor.
A student must never show disrespect to any instructor or fellow student.
Respect must be shown to upper belts, the instructors, and the Sensei.
Never treat an instructor or the Sensei like your personal friend in the classroom
(for example: playing around or use of improper manners).
A student when speaking to the Sensei should respond with "Yes Sensei, No
Sensei, or Thank you Sensei".
A student when speaking with an instructor should respond using surnames
(Mr., Sir, Ms., Mrs., or Ma'am appropriately).
Do not allow your belt to drag on the floor.
Students must learn to uphold the proper ways of sitting or standing in class.
Students must not engage in idle talk or use inappropriate language in class.
A student must not leave the classroom without permission from the instructor.
Every student is responsible for safety in the class. A student must never do anything that could jeopardize the safety of others.
Students will not teach or practice any techniques with another student without permission from the instructor.
Students must not chew gum or eat during class.
Students must wear the traditional uniform to all practice sessions upon receiving the rank of yellow belt (if there is a problem, see the Sensei).
All uniforms must be clean and in good condition.
Jewelry or sharp objects must not be worn during class.
Students must keep their bodies clean and nails trimmed.
Students are responsible for the techniques and forms they are taught. At any time a student may be asked to perform them. A student learns by seeing, listening, questioning, and doing.
Any disobedience or disruption of class will be grounds for immediate dismissal.
Students must show respect, kindness, self-discipline, and control at all times.
Students must never show or lose their temper.
In the classroom, the word of the Sensei is law.
Do not attempt to correct the Sensei.
If a student feels something is or has been improperly taught, the student should speak to the instructor or the Sensei in private after class.
